Old Amsterdam has origins at the end of the 19th century due to a quest for a rich, authentic flavour of yore. The cheese is produced by Westland, a family run business based in the Netherlands, using a recipe that is a well-guarded family secret. Old Amsterdam gets its name after the town of Gouda, located in the South Holland province of the Netherlands.
